| What is Dramatherapy? A form of Psychotherapy which draws upon creative methods such as stories, puppets, masks, sand, miniatures, art, music and movement to promote expression as well as providing children with a voice that words alone don’t always offer. Who is it for? Dramatherapy is very inclusive and can meet the needs of most children. It is not necessary to have experience in drama; the use of different creative methods allow for it to be accessible for many. This enables children to explore difficult and painful experiences through an indirect approach, making them feel safer and more likely to engage in therapy. How can it help? Dramatherapists are trained to identify the most suitable medium the child would engage in. Therapeutic aims can include support with anxiety; friendships; low self-esteem; bereavement; trauma; addiction; learning disabilities and many other conditions the child would like to explore. Sessions are facilitated by a fully qualified and regulated therapist through the HCPC. (Health Care Professional Council) |
